Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master’s degree with coursework in school administration or leadership preferred.
- Three years of successful teaching experience.
- Prior experience as an athletic director or coordinator in a public school preferred.
- Experience as a head coach at the high school level preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in a senior athletic leadership role, with a documented history of building high-performance teams and mentoring coaching staff toward measurable growth.
- Demonstration of excellent, proactive two-way communication with all stakeholders.
- Committed to the fulfillment of the mission, vision, and values of MPSD and Lincoln High School.
- Be a great teammate who works collaboratively to achieve success.
- Be caring, with an unfettered belief that all students should be involved in co-curricular activities, and work tirelessly to achieve the highest levels of student engagement in both our athletics and activities programs in the district.

Position Statement:
The Athletics & Activities Director is a visionary leader who embodies the mission, vision and core values of the MPSD and Lincoln High School in developing, implementing, and evaluating the highest quality interscholastic athletic and student activities programs for the Manitowoc Public School District. This position will facilitate the ongoing recruitment, development, engagement and retention of the best coaches, volunteers, club advisors, managers, families and students.
Essential Job Functions:
- STRATEGIC VISION & LEADERSHIP - Initiate, implement and model a prolific vision with passion and excellence resulting in the best interscholastic athletics and activities programming in the State of Wisconsin.
- TALENT RECRUITMENT & DEVELOPMENT - Facilitate the ongoing recruitment, collaborative development, engagement and development of the best coaches, volunteers, club advisors, managers, families, and students.
- CLIMATE & CULTURE - Foster an environment of trust, school pride, camaraderie, inclusion, transparency, collaboration and unity amongst and between coaches, advisors, students, parents, programs and the community.
- PUBLIC RELATIONS - Engage internal and external stakeholders in efforts to support the mission, vision, and values of the MPSD and Lincoln High School in an exemplary manner, as the primary representative of Lincoln High School, the Manitowoc Public School District, and the greater Manitowoc community. - OPERATIONS & MANAGEMENT - Demonstrate a high level of competence and commitment in managing, overseeing, and empowering others in delegating responsibilities to assistant(s) in daily operations including scheduling, contracts, supplies, equipment, facilities management, transportation, meetings, etc.
- FINANCES - Exercise impeccable fiduciary responsibility and stewardship in the development, management and deployment of athletic and activities resources, including fundraising.

Key Accountabilities:
- Build all varsity athletic and activity programs to a state level of excellence by instilling an alignment of our mission, vision, core values, and philosophy with all performance structures across all district and community programs down through the youngest levels of participants.
- Organize and oversee summer school athletic opportunities.
- Mentor coaches and advisors while instilling the mission, vision and values of Lincoln High School and the Manitowoc Public School District.
- Create a culture of excellence for all students and student-athletes that maximizes their unique abilities by holding all stakeholders accountable for adopted systems and structures related to the student experiences.
- Be a collaborative and supportive teammate in our efforts to achieve our mission and vision of getting our students ready for what’s next and supporting them in becoming effective communicators, creative problem solvers and engaged community members. Understanding, adjusting, and leading changes in relevant systems and structures as a member of a high performing building leadership team.
- Effectively secure and allocate resources by championing Manitowoc Lincoln High School when working with community, business and alumni partners.
Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day
- Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance in an indoor setting
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
- Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
- Ability to maintain concentration
